YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating whether there’s a connection between the fatal shooting of a man on Kensington Avenue and the assault of a neighbor by three men with handguns and a golf club.

Police said Friday that they were determining if the two incidents were related.

A 27-year-old Kensington Avenue man, who lives a few houses from 1515 Kensington Ave. where Andre Harrison was shot Tuesday, reported being assaulted about 12:15 a.m. Friday.

The man said three men forced their way into his house demanding drugs, according to police. When the resident said he didn’t have any, two men pulled out guns and pistol whipped him while a third man hit him with a golf club, police said.

The resident said he’d get drugs and when the three men stopped hitting him, he fled from his house out a back door to a gas station, where he called police, according to the report. The three assailants left before officers arrived, police said.

The man was bleeding with scrapes and bruises covering his head, face, chest, back and arms, police said. He was treated for his injuries at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Police still are investigating Harrison’s fatal shooting at his Kensington Avenue home. No arrests had been made as of Friday.

Harrison was found dead on his living room floor about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

His house then was destroyed in a 2:20 a.m. Wednesday fire that fire officials say was deliberately set.
