Ryan announces $1 million for Trumbull County youth program
WARREN — U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13th, today announced a $1,072,500 grant for the Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority’s YouthBuild Program.
The program provides job training and work opportunities to at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24, according to a news release.
“I am proud to announce this award to the Trumbull MHA and I commend Don Emerson and his staff, especially April Platt, on their hard work in securing this grant,” Ryan, of Howland, said in a statement. “Every young person in our community should have the same chance at success, regardless of where they start in life. This funding will help these young people receive the education and training they need to find good paying jobs.”
“TMHA is honored, privileged, and humbled to receive this award from the U.S. Department of Labor in order to continue the tremendous work that YouthBuild Trumbull County does every day,” Donald W. Emerson, Jr., TMHA executive director said in a statement. “The local support for this program has been overwhelming and certainly played a tremendous role in its success throughout its 20 plus years in existence.”
