Improve your knowledge of bone health at Mercy Health’s Women in Touch Fall 2016.

John V. Gentile, DO, a specialist in orthopaedic trauma care at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, will talk about osteoporosis, a disease that causes bones to become weak.

Osteoporosis affects nearly half of all women above the age of 50 and has no warning symptoms. It can lead to breaking bones, most commonly a hip fractured.

Gentile will lead a discussion of ways to prevent osteoporosis and describe current treatment options.

Women in Touch will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 4 at The Avalon Inn and Resort, located at 9519 E. Market St. in Warren, and on Oct. 11 at Mr. Anthony’s, located at 744 South Ave. in Boardman. The cost is $20 including dinner. Reservations are required.

Continuing education credit is available for nurses, dietitians and social workers.
