Austintown Fitch High School started off the football season with a band night on Aug. 29 at Greenwood Falcon Stadium.
The Austintown Fitch band, directed by Wes O’Connor, performed along with six other schools in the area including Ursuline, McDonald, Springfield and Canfield. The band night gave the students, families and friends the opportunity to see the Fitch band, and several others, play a variety of music.
Fitch Principal Chris Berni spoke as the band prepared to perform the National Anthem.
“I just want to send a sincere thank you to all of our family members. You put your kids first and we just wanted to say thank you for being here and enjoy the show,” Berni told the audience.
The Fitch band played “March Grandioso” and the National Anthem as a start to the program. After Fitch finished the pregame songs, McDonald High School set up on the field to begin their performance. The audience applauded as each band finished their performance and the other schools made their way on to the field.
Band night allowed bands from the area to show what they have been working on all summer to prepare for football season.
