A homeless woman faces a felonious-assault charge

A 46-year-old homeless woman faces a felonious- assault charge after police said she hit a man she met on a Greyhound bus in the head with a vodka bottle at the Western Reserve Transit Authority bus station.

According to a police report, officers charged Nicole M. Williams of Maryland about 9 p.m. Monday with the felony. She is in the Mahoning County jail pending arraignment.

Police said she and a man, no age or address given, were sharing vodka on a bus trip when the man acknowledged he tried to kiss her and she became angry.

The bus driver had to pull over to stop the two from arguing, but told police there wasn’t a physical incident on the bus, the police report states.

At the downtown bus station at 340 W. Federal St., Williams reportedly hit the man from behind with the liquor bottle, causing a large cut to the right side of his head above and behind his ear, the police report stated.

Williams told police the man became physically aggressive with her, but the report states officers found no evidence to support her claims.

The man was treated for the injury at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
