The Emmys’ red carpet was a mixed bag of color and silhouette. Some highlights:

v Kerry Washington: In her second pregnancy, she has been tight-lipped about her due date, but the end is clearly near. She dressed for two in a custom, daring, black Brandon Maxwell strapless gown with cutouts above the waist and a long train and wore her hair big, loose and curly.

v Sarah Paulson: The actress made a huge statement in an emerald long-sleeve, plunging-neckline Prada so heavily encrusted she looked otherworldy. She walked Sunday’s carpet in Los Angeles with the real-life Marcia Clark, the character she played on FX’s “People v. O.J. Simpson.”

v Olivia Culpo: Her claims to fame are being crowned Miss USA in 2012 and once dating Nick Jonas, but she rocked the red carpet in purple eye makeup and the perfect little dress embellished with sequins from Zac Posen.

v Priyanka Chopra: She had the most fun on the carpet at the Microsoft Theater, twirling there and again onstage as a presenter with Tom Hiddleston. The “Quantico” star wore a one-shoulder custom Jason Wu in red with a Chanel red lip color that was a winning match. Chopra wore $1 million in Neil Lane jewels – a 10-carat diamond-and-platinum drop earrings and a 10-carat diamond-and-platinum emerald cut ring.

v Terrence Howard: The “Empire” star wore a Lucious Lyon-worthy, black-and-white plaid dinner jacket with a black lapel and TV test-pattern bow tie.

“NCIS (8 p.m., CBS): TV’s most popular drama moves on with a couple of new faces after Michael Weatherly’s departure. Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito join the show for its 14th season.

“Scream Queens” (9 p.m., Fox): The shrieks come out at night as Season 2 begins. The comedic thriller jumps ahead three years and shifts its sights to a hospital where a masked killer is on the loose. John Stamos and Tyler Lautner join the cast.
