A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Sept. 8
Identity fraud: An Olde Charted Trail man saw that his personal information had been compromised.
Assault: A New Middletown man suffered a minor injury before reporting he had been assaulted at a Center Road business.
Sept. 9
Identity fraud: A Chesterton Drive man found out his personal information had been used without authorization.
Sept. 10
Recovered property: A $300 push scooter that had been reported stolen from a Diana Drive residence was found.
BOARDMAN
Sept. 9
Arrest: Police at a Doral Drive grocery store arrested 30-year-old Kyle A. Hutchinson of Erskine Avenue, Boardman. He was wanted on two warrants charging failure to appear in court.
Theft: Someone in the 100 block of Prestwick Drive removed about $20 in bills and change from a car.
Citation: Police responded to a report of someone soliciting in the roadway near Shields Road before issuing a minor-misdemeanor citation charging James C. Hanson Jr., 54, of Market Street, Boardman, with soliciting without a permit.
Theft: A woman noticed a wallet, several credit cards and other items missing from her vehicle in the 1800 block of Halbert Drive.
Misuse of a credit card: An East Huntington Drive woman found out her credit card had been used without consent to make a $175 online purchase.
Criminal mischief: Someone tampered with a flagpole at a Shelby Road residence.
Fraud: A Pierce Drive woman told police she unwittingly gave access to her computer to a caller claiming to represent Microsoft Corp. who convinced the accuser her machine had numerous viruses, then stated the repair service would be done for free. Nevertheless, she later realized her computer had been hacked and that $199 was removed from her online account.
Theft: Roughly $5 in loose change was taken from a car in the 4000 block of Windsor Road.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Tudor Lane man said his son and a friend of the son’s had borrowed the father’s 2016 Chevrolet Silverado without permission and brought it back before the accuser returned from a camping trip.
Theft/drugs: After several packages of shower curtains were reportedly stolen from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, authorities charged Melody L. McGlothlin of Prospect Street, Newton Falls, with theft; 30-year-old T.J. Allason of North Dunlap Avenue, Youngstown, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia; and 26-year-old Steven A. Doan of Northwest Boulevard, Warren, with theft and the same two drug charges. Two hypodermic needles, a spoon with two pieces of cotton containing suspected heroin residue and about 12 folded bindles commonly used to package heroin were found, a report showed.
Assault: An Erie Street woman alleged a fellow student had grabbed, slapped and held down her daughter while the two girls were on a school bus.
Theft: A Jeannelynn Street woman realized someone had entered her vehicle and a neighbor’s. About $6 in change was removed from one of the cars.
Weapon: Officers were dispatched to a vehicular crash in the 7000 block of Market Street in which several people were reportedly injured before charging 20-year-old Daylyn M.J. Blair of Columbus with a fourth-degree felony count of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle; 19-year-old Joquaun L. Blair of Oregon Avenue, Youngstown, with obstructing official business; and arresting 21-year-old Kemontey E. Blair of Columbus on a Franklin County, Ohio, warrant. Daylyn Blair failed to tell police about a loaded firearm in the vehicle, which they seized; also, Joquaun Blair fled from the accident, a report said.
Sept. 10
Theft: Two men and a woman reportedly stole an unknown number of Sony PlayStation 4 games and a Bluetooth speaker from Walmart.
Fraud: Authorities responded to a report that several people were possibly using multiple stolen credit cards at various Southern Park Mall stores and communicating via wireless headsets before arresting 28-year-old Cesar Aviles Jr. of Columbus on seven counts each of misuse of credit cards and forgery, two counts of receiving stolen property and one of possession of drug paraphernalia, and learning he was wanted on numerous theft and fraud charges from Onondaga County, N.Y. Also taken into custody was 39-year-old Jacqueline M. Saavedra of Elmhurst, N.Y., who faced two counts of possession of criminal tools and single counts of identity fraud, forgery, misuse of a credit card and obstructing official business. Saavedra had a Puerto Rico driver’s license with someone else’s information; also, another person’s credit card was recovered, a report showed.
Theft: Atralle D. Tensley, 18, of Kenneth Street, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of supplement pills and a bottle of shampoo from Walmart.
Arrest: A traffic stop near Afton Avenue resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Joshua L. Clardy when police discovered Clardy, of Liberty Road, Youngstown, was wanted on warrants from Struthers and Liberty Township.
Theft: Arnold D. Harding, 59, no address listed, faced theft and criminal-trespassing charges after surveillance footage at Walmart reportedly caught him selecting and eating a handful of grapes. Harding also was accused of violating a criminal-trespassing warning to stay off the property.
Criminal damaging: A Sheridan Road woman reported someone had smeared feces on her vehicle’s driver’s side and hood.
Theft: Someone removed $5 in change from a car in the 700 block of Indianola Road.
Harassment: A man said he received several such text messages and calls while at an apartment in the 30 block of Carter Circle.
Domestic violence: Lynn A. Burnside, 39, of Boardman, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail and charged with the crime after her boyfriend alleged Burnside had threatened to kill him or have someone else do it.
Theft: Several members of the same family reportedly took two iPods and $30 worth of groceries from Walmart.
Theft/drugs: Alexander J. Kaufman, 28, was charged with theft as well as possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after three pairs of blue jeans valued at $178 were stolen from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall. Kaufman, of Dean Drive, New Castle, Pa., admitted having a needle, a spoon with burn marks common in drug use and empty bags with suspected drug residue, police alleged.
Theft: A man noticed several boards that had been stacked behind his Argyle Avenue home were missing.
Theft: A .22-caliber handgun and holster were stolen from a car in the 4500 block of Montrose Avenue.
Theft: A South Avenue woman reported her purse stolen from her vehicle.
Sept. 11
Criminal damaging: A vehicle check on Doral Drive led to the arrest of Asia S. Laury, who listed addresses on East Boston Avenue in Youngstown and in Columbus. The 28-year-old Laury was wanted on a Youngstown warrant charging criminal damaging.
Burglary: To a condominium in the 6900 block of Tippecanoe Road after someone had pried open a door. Two flat-screen TVs and an electronic pad were stolen, for an estimated $3,200 loss.
Criminal damaging: A Prestwick Drive man reported an unknown object was used to scratch his vehicle’s driver’s-side doors. Damage was estimated at $200.
Theft/criminal damaging: A worker for a South Avenue motel told authorities a tenant had stolen a set of two towels and burned another such set.
Theft: A woman noticed her purse missing from a shopping cart while at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Menacing: An Applecrest Court woman alleged a neighbor with whom she has ongoing problems challenged her to a fight.
Theft: Stefonia R. Rivers, 44, of North Forest Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing $28 worth of merchandise, including three pairs of sunglasses, from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.
Sept. 12
Arrests: While on routine patrol near Alburn Drive, an officer reported spotting two wanted people before apprehending 20-year-old Dakota C. Bruce of Tenney Avenue, Campbell, and a Campbell boy, 16, on nearby Prestwick Drive. Both were charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest after being accused of leading police on a foot chase.
Assault: The owner of a Mathews Road home alleged a tenant pushed the accuser and spit in his face after he had served an eviction notice.
Theft: Someone took $5 from a vehicle in the 200 block of South Cadillac Drive.
Domestic violence: Michael L. Infante, 59, of McCarty Road, Canfield, was charged after police had responded to a fight in the 5000 block of Lockwood Boulevard and an officer alleged Infante told him he would kill Infante’s daughter if not for another family member. The daughter alleged he had earlier threatened to kill her regarding family problems.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 30 block of South Shore Drive was found with a broken rear windshield. Damage came to $250.
Assault: A township woman alleged her boyfriend had improperly restrained her son after the son deleted a TV show the boyfriend had recorded.
Fraud: The owner of a residence in the 400 block of Orlo Lane discovered someone without authorization had posted an ad stating the home was for rent.
Theft: Authorities phone booked Jesse D. Duby, 22, of Kroeck Avenue, Austintown, who was accused in an Aug. 25 shoplifting situation of stealing a 40-inch TV from Walmart. He also faced a separate charge related to an Aug. 26 theft at Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, in which a sound-bar device had been stolen.
