CANFIELD

Take a walk back to the beginnings of Canfield with the Canfield Historical Society’s “Canfield Memory Walk: A Step Back in Time” Saturday and Oct. 8.

Early Mahoning Dispatch printers, blacksmiths, immigrants, Civil War veterans and more will be milling about the 14 stations on the Memory Walk tour.

Susie McCabe, Canfield Historical Society president, said she just thinks the night will be fun.

“I hope it’s just a different kind of date night,” she said.

Curator Laura Zeh agreed.

“It’s going to be entertaining night out, as well as, educational especially for local people,” Zeh said.

McCabe said as a Canfield school teacher she enjoys giving people the opportunity to relive society as it was.

“It’s a live performance, an hour long, and [attendees] might learn something along the way,” she said.

Each station has a set of “action-interactive” performers ready to involve guests in their re-enactments.

Zeh said her favorite is the entertaining bank robbery, which she said is a sight to see.

Tickets are $25 for one person and $40 for two. They can be bought by calling the historical society’s Bond House at 330-533-3458 or visiting Market on the Green between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday.

Further donations can be made to P.O. Box 3, Canfield, OH 44406.

All proceeds go toward fixing the facade of the historical buildings to keep preservations safe.
