Former NL official to return to Warren

WARREN

Bill White, former professional baseball player and president of the National League, will visit his alma mater, Warren G. Harding High School, at 1:30 p.m. Friday and be honored as part of Warren’s homecoming.

White’s speech will include information about his life, advice for the future, and the importance of his education in the Warren City Schools. After the speech, a reception will take place in the school library from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. At halftime during the evening’s football game, White will be introduced and an announcement will be made outlining future plans to name a new press box at Volunteer Field and an entrance to the school grounds in his honor.

Baby Bargain event

Boardman

Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road, will host its annual Baby Bargain Boutique sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Master’s and boccie pavilions.

The event will feature more than 100 moms selling baby and children items. Admission is free with a nonperishable food item donation for a local food bank.

Classic car show at levy kickoff rally

BOARDMAN

The Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ seventh annual Hot Rod and Classic Car Show and levy kickoff rally is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday under the canopy at the Bev Mahoning County Adult Services Co., 825 Bev Road.

The event includes car judging, a dessert contest, live music from Brett Allen Morgan, face painting, picnic food, games and give-a-ways, and music and dancing. All charitable donations benefit the Animal Charity Humane Society.

MASCO, provides employment for about 400 Mahoning County residents.

Climate-change talk

YOUNGSTOWN

Arun Gupta, co-founder of The Indypendent and the Occupied Wall Street Journal, will discuss “Climate Change, Peak Oil and the Age of Extremes” in Room B100 of Cushwa Hall at Youngstown State University at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The presentation is part of the YSU Lecture Series on Energy and the Environment.
