Poland society to host fall fundraiser

Poland Historical Society is hosting its fall fundraiser Oct. 22.

The schedule for the day includes a trip to the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Cleveland Art Museum.

Arrive at the Poland Seminary High School parking lot at 8:15 a.m. Be prompt. Cars can be left in the school parking lot. Leave for Cleveland at 8:30, arrive at Western Reserve Historical Society at 10 and visit exhibits on your own.

Board the bus for the trip to Cleveland Art Museum at noon, lunch on your own at the museum cafe or restaurant from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., tour the museum then leave for home at 4 p.m.

Church plans block party, raffle

CANFIELD

Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., will host a back-to-school block party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

There will be a raffle to benefit Beatitude House and Head Start. There also will be a school supplies giveaway for the first 150 students.

The event will include a disc jockey and games for children and adults, complimentary food and door prize of a night at local bed and breakfast, Bella Fattoria.

Register now for Operation Blessing

The end-of-the-year holidays are almost here. In order to receive a large roasting chicken on distribution days in November and December from Canfield Operation Blessing, participants must be a registered client.

As of May of 2016, participants must be a registered client to be able to select Christmas presents for children and receive a ham at Easter. Oct. 20 is the deadline to register.

Distribution is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St. Take state identification, proof of 2016 income for all contributing adults and if you have children, birth certificates or medical cards for each child.

Women’s leadership conference set

Registrations are being accepted for YWCA of Youngstown’s ninth annual Women’s Leadership Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave.

Topics include workplace safety, conflict resolution, negotiations, financial planning and multi-generations in the workplace.

The event includes guest speakers, vendor and resource tables and networking opportunities. The cost is $40 per person or $25 for full-time students with valid identification. A table of eight is $250. The deadline to register is Friday.

Tails and ales event to benefit animals

AUSTINTOWN

Animal Charity will present a Tails and Ales event from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday hosted by Barry Dyngles, 1601 S. Raccoon Road.

Tickets are $40 and include a full buffet and select drinks. Live entertainment will be provided by the Super Babes.

The event will include a selfie station, 50-50 and queen of hearts drawings. Animal Charity will have shirts available for purchase and adoptable dogs will visit throughout the night.
