The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s mobile-outreach center will visit the Youngstown unit of the NAACP at the Cobbins Building, 1350 Fifth Ave., Suite 202, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday to accept complaints of employment discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and older), disability or retaliation.

The EEOC considers retaliation the firing of a worker who complained about job discrimination, gave evidence in a job-discrimination matter or filed a charge of job discrimination with the commission. To schedule an appointment, email naacpyoungstownbranch@gmail.com or call 330-782-9777.

Thiel homecoming

GREENVILLE, PA.

Thiel College’s sesquicentennial Homecoming 2016 celebration kicks off with a Color Dash 5K next Sunday at Riverside Park.

The 5K is open to all runners and walkers. Packet pickup will take place at 8 a.m., and the event will begin at 10 a.m.

The dash is a family-friendly, untimed run or walk for people of all ages and abilities. Participants will be provided with a white T-shirt and will be sprayed with brightly colored powders during the race.

The event is sponsored by ILSCO Extrusions, Inc. The Color Dash donates 50 percent of the profits received to local charities.

Nature detectives

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Families are invited to Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 to become nature detectives, exploring the mysteries of mushrooms and other fungi.

Participants will investigate to find out where mushrooms can be found, the strange parts of mushrooms, and more.

Jennings’ Nature Detectives programs are designed for families with children age 6 and older, as well as anyone who is a kid at heart. Children should be accompanied by a parent or other adult.

Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and expect to participate in an outdoor learning adventure, rain or shine. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 30, and space is limited.
