State group selects Mock as outstanding board member
Kathy Mock, president of the Austintown school board, has been named one of the NEOSBA Northeast Region Outstanding School Board Members by the Ohio School Board Association.
Mock will be honored along with three other recipients Oct. 5 at the Northeast Region Fall Conference in Wadsworth near Akron.
She is eligible to receive the All-Ohio School Board Award, which honors board members who demonstrate outstanding service to public education. It is OSBA’s most prestigious honor.
Mock has served on the school board for six years, five of those as president.
She is the director of Education and Initiatives for the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and supervises the pre-kindergarten summer program – Success by 6 – in 19 school districts across Mahoning County, as well as a new initiative, Success After Six, and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for children birth to 5 in Mahoning County.
She also is an instructor at Youngstown State University in the Beeghly College of Education and is involved in many civic organizations around the Valley.
