v Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, 8 p.m.: The concert ($30 to $55), which will kick off the YSO’s 90th season, will include works by Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Chopin and Liszt. It’s at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., downtown; 330-744-0264.

v Johnny Appleseed Festival, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.: The town square of Lisbon goes ape for apples in this big festival. Meanwhile, the Lordstown Apple Cider Festival at Lordstown High School on Salt Springs Road offers more fun in the same flavor. Admission to both is free.

v “The Music Man,” 7:30 p.m.: This classic musical ($17 for adults) opens the season at the Youngstown Playhouse, off Glenwood Avenue; 330-788-8739.

“Creative Arts Emmy Awards” (8 p.m., FXX): The high-profile trophies won’t be handed out until next week, but tonight we’ve got the “Creative Arts Emmy Awards.” If you’re into makeup, picture editing, sound mixing, and similarly thrilling categories, have at it.

“Community Connection” (Sunday at 6:30 a.m. on 21 WFMJ-TV and 11 a.m. on WBCB-TV): State Sen. Faculty recital

YOUNGSTOWN

Several members of the Dana School of Music faculty will give recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Bliss Recital Hall, on the lower level of Bliss Hall, on the Youngstown State University campus. The ensemble will include Brian Kiser, tuba; D. Jack Ciarniello, piano; Stacie Mickens, horn; Sebastian Vera, trombone; Gabriel Colby, trombone; and Hakeem Bilal, bass trombone. Candice Clayton Kiser will be the guest clarinet player.

Organ concert

YOUNGSTOWN

The organist duo of Elizabeth and Raymond Chenault will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. Tickets are $10 ($5 for students and seniors) at the box office.
