ODOT announces lane restrictions

YOUNGSTOWN

The U.S. Route 62 (Canfield Road) bridge over Mill Creek will have various lane restrictions through late September to enable $120,000 in bridge drainage repairs, the Ohio Department of Transportation has announced.

Also, Interstate 680 will have lane restrictions from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. between South and Thalia avenues, Tuesday through Thursday, for pavement repairs.

In Liberty Township, motorists exiting state Route 11 southbound at Tibbetts-Wick Road won’t be able to turn left to go east on Tibbetts-Wick through late September due to bridge construction.

School reps invited to White House

YOUNGSTOWN

Krish Mohip, CEO of the Youngstown City School District, and Dominque Howse, director of Student Services, are invited to the White House on Monday to join a multidisciplinary team of up to eight representatives from Ohio to attend Trauma-Informed Approaches in School: Supporting Girls of Color and Rethinking Discipline.

The meeting is from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The White House Council on Women and Girls, the U.S. Department of Education, the Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality, and The National Crittenton Foundation, invited representatives from across the country to the meeting.

The session will focus on disproportionate barriers in education faced by girls of color by helping participants address one specific barrier: improving school systems’ approach to better serve girls of color who have experienced trauma.

Road closings

YOUNGSTOWN

Price Road near the Old Log Cabin in Mill Creek MetroParks will have brief, periodic closings to all traffic today from approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the YUTC Ultra Trail Run. During that time, the entrance to Fellows Riverside Gardens on Price Road will remain open.

Food giveaway

YOUNGSTOWN

Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ, 939 Elm St., will have a food giveaway from 2 to 4 p.m. today. Participants should bring containers and identification.

Spaghetti dinner, open house planned

HUBBARD

The Hubbard School Levy Committee will host a spaghetti dinner and open house from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., to promote a new emergency operating levy which will be on the November ballot.

If approved by voters, the 10-year, 7.1-mill levy would generate $1.44 million annually for the Hubbard School District and cost the owner of a $100,000 home $248.50 each year, according to the Trumbull County Auditor’s Office.

Detour routes

NEWTOWN

Wood Lenhart Road in Newtown Township and the village of Lordstown will close Monday halfway between Newton Falls Bailey Road and Hewitt Gifford Road. The closure, which is due to bridge repair, will end next Friday.

The Trumbull County Engineer’s Office recommends detour routes of west on Newtown Falls Bailey Road, northeast on Kale Adams Road or south on Wood Lenhart Road.

Street closed

YOUNGSTOWN

Federal Street eastbound, between Fifth Avenue and Vindicator Square, will be closed from 8 a.m. until about 4 p.m. Monday in order to repair waterlines.
