ATHLETIC GROUPS

Girard High School Athletic Boosters will meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the high school.

McDonald Sideliners will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the high school.

CLASSES

The Rayen School Class of 1959 will meet for its monthly luncheon at noon Wednesday at Stonebridge Grille & Tavern, 1497 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman. All classmates, spouses and guests are welcome. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month.

CLUBS

Friends of the Mahoning River will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill, Youngstown. Parking is in the rear of the building. Tracey Hughes, co-director of the Oak Hill Robotics Makerspace, will discuss a project of Mill Creek Park lakes, which is proposing to use underwater robots to conduct a video survey of the bottom of the lakes. Youngstown Chapter of International Torch Clubs will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Kilcawley Center, Bresnahan Rooms 1 and 2 at Youngstown State University. The public is invited. The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6 and lecture at 7. Club member Bill Farragher will discuss “My Personal Experiences in WW II.” The lecture only is free. Dinner for nonmembers is $20. Youngstown Council of Catholic Nurses will meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Manor, 3104 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown. Dr. Ronald Ruscitti will discuss the causes and treatment of back pain and sciatica.

GROUPS

That Quilt Group I Belong To will meet Tuesday at Fair Park in Canfield. The sew-a-thon will begin at 1 p.m. in the Rotary building with a break for dinner at 5. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the meeting at 7. The focus this month will be the 12 Days of Christmas pillowcases to be donated to Akron Children’s Hospital. Take 3-inch strips for contrast and 1/3 yard for the end cuff. Stitchers are welcome to take their own sewing machine. Nonmembers are encouraged to attend. Park Ave. The program will be discussion of the meaning of nonpartisan and how members should use it and training for setting up a political forum and the tools and equipment needed to present one according to LWVTC by-laws. Youngstown Area PFLAG is sponsoring a political forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. Representatives of the Mahoning County Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and Green parties have been invited. The focus will be on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender platform positions. A question and answer period will follow the presentations. PFLAG is an organization that gives support, educates and advocates for the LGBT community. Regular meetings take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the second Tuesday each month.
