SALEM

Salem Community Theatre will begin its 2016-17 season with the heartwarming comedy “Over the River and Through the Woods.”

Directed by Chris Fidram, “Over the River” focuses on Nick, a single, Italian-American man from New Jersey.

His parents have recently retired and moved to Florida, but that doesn’t mean his family isn’t still in Jersey.

In fact, he sees both sets of his grandparents every Sunday for dinner.

This is his routine until a new job disrupts it, and the news doesn’t sit so well with his grandparents, who scheme to keep Nick around.

The cast includes Chuck Simon, Ruth Newman, Denise Sculli, Samuel Perry, Paul Dahman and Jennifer Milligan.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and again on Sept. 23 and 24; and at 2 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 25.

The theater is at 490 E. State St.

Tickets are $15 ($11 for seniors and $9 for students).

For reservations, call 330-332-9688.
