After arrest, man gives up cash, drugs in the back of police cruiser
YOUNGSTOWN — Police found almost $2,400 cash in the back of a cruiser Wednesday amid a pile of marijuana a suspect had strewn across the back seat.
Reports said the suspect, James Horne, 32, of New Castle, Pa., had told police when he was taken into custody about 8:15 p.m. at East Boston and Gibson avenues during a traffic stop that he had nothing on him even though he smelled heavily of marijuana.
Reports said just before they arrived at the jail Horne asked police if they would be mad at him, then they looked in the back seat and saw loose marijuana strewn across the seat, along with a pill. A bag of crack cocaine also fell out of his pant leg, reports said.
Horne faces several drug charges. Reports said the money was found earlier during the traffic stop. Horne was being taken to the jail in the first place because police said he had been lying to them about having nothing illegal.
