With research proving that money can contribute to happiness — at least, up to a certain dollar amount — the personal-finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2016’s Happiest States in America. The ranking used 28 criteria, ranging from emotional health to income level to sports participation rate. Here are the top five:

v Utah: The state has the lowest rate of heart attacks, 2.7 percent; the highest volunteerism rate, 45.2 percent; and the lowest divorce rate, 15.97 percent.

v Minnesota: Leads the nation in emotional and physical well-being.

v North Dakota: The lowest long-term unemployment rate, 13.1 percent, which is 3.8 times lower than in the District of Columbia, where the rate is highest, 49.2 percent.

v Hawaii: The islands have the lowest depression rate, 10.7 percent, which is 2.2 times lower than in Oregon, where the rate is highest, 24.0 percent.

v Colorado: Tops in rate of adequate sleep.

“Blindspot” (10 p.m., NBC): Last year’s turbocharged hit “Blindspot” returns for Season 2, and the FBI now wants Jane (Jaimie Alexander) to be a triple agent. The opener introduces Archie Panjabi (“The Good Wife”) as an NSA agent who has been secretly tracking the Jane Doe case.

“American Horror Story” (10 p.m., FX): The theme for Season 6 of “American Horror Story” has been a mystery all summer as producers have trolled us with misleading trailers. Tonight, we finally get some answers as the over-the-top creep show returns.
