A Youngstown woman was arraigned Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court before Judge Joseph M. Houser on a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired.

According to a police report, an officer stopped Tishawn Crum, 32, of Miami Street at 11:45 p.m. Saturday on East Midlothian Boulevard at a gas station. The officer said she nearly collided with his police car and another vehicle.

A breath test registered Crum’s blood-alcohol content at 0.142 percent. The state legal intoxication limit is 0.08 percent.

Boil alert issued

The city on Tuesday issued a 24-hour water boil alert for residents living on Third Street and Main streets to Ward and Eliza avenues.

Charged in shooting

WARREN

Kardell Lowery Jr., 21, of Maple Street Southwest is in the Trumbull County Jail, charged with shooting a 21-year-old man July 17 in the Hampshire House neighborhood. Lowery was arrested Friday at a home on Oak Street.

A not-guilty plea was entered for Lowery on Monday in Warren Municipal Court, and he was ordered to remain in jail without eligibility to make bond.

Police provided few details regarding the shooting except that the victim was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment in a 1:13 p.m. shooting on Arnold Drive Southwest that day.

Project Clean Sweep

YOUNGSTOWN

South Avenue Area Neighborhood Development Initiative, in conjunction with the South Avenue Business Association, is announcing the launch of Project Clean Sweep for South Avenue on Friday.

Businesses on the corridor, neighborhood volunteers from various block watches, students from Cardinal Mooney High School and the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, and concerned citizens will convene at the parking lot of Metro Assembly, 2530 South Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Businesses will have help cleaning their parking lots, sidewalks and buildings of trash, gravel and weeds. Areas with tall grass will be cut and any weeds will be cut. Vacant properties will be cleaned up. Green Youngstown will provide the gloves, bags and any tools necessary. Debris can be left at the curb for city pickup.
