Police found more than 370 pills over the weekend and two guns in separate incidents while taking three men into custody.
About 5:20 p.m. Saturday, police were called to a vacant South Side home in the 100 block of East Judson Avenue for a report of a car in the driveway of a vacant home with the trunk open.
When officers arrived, reports said the driver of the car, Emanuel Valentin, 19, of Youngstown, told police he was at the home to make a rap video. Reports said officers have arrested Valentin before and asked him why he was driving, reports said.
Reports said Valentin had pills. When the car was searched before it was towed, police found 267 pills under the seat, $1,131 cash and a loaded 9 mm handgun. Reports said Valentin denied the gun was his, saying it belonged to his passenger, Allen Torres, 20, of Youngstown, but he did admitt the pills and cash were his.
Torres was in the passenger seat, and reports said police also found a small amount of suspected heroin.
Valentin is charged with possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs. Torres is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. Judge Robert Milich of municipal court set bond at $20,000 for each man. They are in the Mahoning County jail.
About 5:20 p.m. Friday, police pulled over a car driven by Jack Manigault, 20, of East Avondale Avenue, at Hillman Street and Parkcliff Avenue on the South Side, after the car he was driving was reported to have been involved in an accident in Boardman and the driver was armed.
Reports said Manigault got out of the car and tried to run away, but was captured.
Police said Manigault had 105 pills in his pocket and a loaded .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun was found on the car’s floor board. He was booked into the jail on charges of possession of drugs, improper handling of a motor vehicle and obstructing official business.
Judge Milich set Manigault’s bond at $30,000.
