Soap Gallery to feature “An Evening in Spain" on Friday

The Soap Gallery and Opera Western Reserve are co-sponsoring “An Evening in Spain: A Musical and Artistic Experience” on Friday September 16 at the gallery, 117 South Champion Street, in downtown Youngstown starting at 6 p.m. The evening will feature live artistic creation, live musical performances by Young Artists of OWR, tapas, beer, wine and sangria.

In advance of Opera Western Reserve’s November 11 production of Bizet’s famous opera Carmen, the evening will bring together supporters of art and music, developing new audiences for both Soap’s monthly art exhibits and OWR’s annual live opera performances.

Soloists will perform arias from Carmen and other Spanish-themed music and artists will be live-painting a Spanish landscape and an abstract on the theme of Carmen. The artwork will be auctioned off at the completion of the event.

The gallery’s September show, “Flickr Friends”, a show of photography from photographers around the country and world who have met and become friends on Flickr, will be on exhibit with works for sale.
