A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Sept. 6

Arrest: Police in the 300 block of West Liberty Street arrested 54-year-old Harold D. Lowe of Borden Street, Youngstown, on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court. Lowe also was charged with criminal trespassing when, authorities said, he had been in a state Route 304 convenience store in violation of a criminal-trespassing warning.

Criminal damaging: A Warren man reported a Hubbard woman, 35, chased him through a parking lot in the 200 block of School Street, then ripped his T-shirt and damaged a piece of jewelry he was wearing.

Harassment: A Hager Street woman said a 41-year-old Cortland man placed unwanted calls to her from the Trumbull County jail.

Sept. 9

Harassment: A Saul Drive woman reported a 48-year-old Masury man has sent her such text messages, including a threat of bodily harm.

LIBERTY

Sept. 7

Identity theft: A Denver Drive woman told officers she has received in the mail credit-approval statements for which she had never applied, some containing accrued charges, apparently after someone had filled out a fraudulent application with her personal information.

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail took custody of 37-year-old Angela Cambert of Ohltown-McDonald Road, McDonald. Cambert was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.

Assault: A Fifth Street woman alleged that during an altercation, her boyfriend twice choked her, including once from behind, and punched the accuser’s face. The woman suffered a possible cervical sprain and head injury from having fallen.

Domestic violence: Paul J. Whippo, 22, of Tibbetts-Wick Road, Girard, faced one misdemeanor count each of domestic violence, aggravated menacing and resisting arrest after his parents alleged Whippo threatened to kill them when they had served him with a three-day eviction notice. Also, police had to use a stun gun to bring an agitated Whippo under control to arrest him, a report showed.

Sept. 9

Harassment: A Lynn Drive woman said her former husband has made and sent her multiple unwanted calls and text messages.

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 200 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road resulted in drug-abuse charges against Josie N. Scofield, 24, and 47-year-old Louella L. Scofield, both of Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, after police alleged having found a small suspected marijuana cigarette. The elder Scofield also was cited on several traffic violations.

Criminal damaging: A Hubbard man discovered a scratch near his vehicle’s driver’s-side door as he left a football game in the 4100 block of Shady Road.

Harassment: A Jefferson Court man alleged a family member had called him more than 30 times in a 15-minute period and screamed obscenities at the accuser.

Sept. 10

Arrest: April R. Weaver, 32, was charged with obstructing official business and with several traffic violations after having been pulled over near Gypsy Lane. Weaver, of West Ravenwood Avenue, Youngstown, admitted having given police a fake name and Social Security number, they said.

Theft: A $250 men’s bicycle was removed from a front porch in the 400 block of Catherine Street.

Sept. 11

Arrest: Police in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue picked up 26-year-old Stanley L. Palmer of Iowa Avenue, Niles, who was wanted on Youngstown Municipal Court warrants charging failure to appear in court.

Arrest: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail took custody of Joshua L. Clardy, 27, of Liberty Road, Youngstown. He was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Sept. 12

Arrest: Officers arrested Anthony L. Wallace of Elm Street, Youngstown, during a traffic stop on Belmont Avenue after discovering the 59-year-old Wallace was wanted on a felony warrant charging fleeing and eluding police. He also was charged with having a suspected crack-cocaine pipe.

GIRARD

Sept. 8

Menacing: An East Second Street woman said a man continually calls, makes uninvited visits to her home and causes a disturbance.

Theft: A Morris Avenue man noticed a .45-caliber pistol missing from his basement.

Theft: A woman alleged her former boyfriend stole a $120 barbecue grill from her yard in the 200 block of East Second Street.

Menacing: A woman reported that as her fifth-grade son got off a school bus near Lawrence Avenue, two males in a car pointed their fingers at the boy, simulating shooting a gun.

Sept. 9

Identity fraud: A West Liberty Street woman found out someone without authorization had apparently used her name and personal information before she inquired as to the status of a check she was to have received.

Drug paraphernalia: While responding to a fight in the 900 block of North Highland Avenue, police charged 43-year-old Mark E. Ewanish with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia after three people alleged an intoxicated Ewanish, of Connelly Road, Masury, became hostile toward them and refused to calm down. Also, a suspected crack-cocaine pipe with drug residue was found, a report stated.

Sept. 10

Domestic violence: Justin M. Sforza, 27, of Mosier Road, Girard, was charged with the crime after a woman alleged Sforza tossed a wallet, striking the accuser’s face, after having become enraged because a friend was at the home.

Citation: While assisting with a traffic stop near Powers Way, authorities issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Durrell Richardson Jr., no information given, with disorderly conduct. Richardson screamed at an officer and refused to calm down, a report said.

Overdose: Authorities responded to a possible drug overdose in the 400 block of Hazel Avenue, where a woman told them a man, who was found unconscious, apparently mixed alcohol with medications he had taken. The victim was given naloxone, which reverses or blocks the effects of opioid medications, a report showed.

Sept. 11

Domestic violence: Police charged Lisa A. Egley of North Ward Avenue, Girard, with domestic violence and resisting arrest after her daughter alleged Egley, 52, had grabbed her hair and slapped the accuser during a fight. Egley also refused to cooperate with authorities, they said.

Drugs: Officers responded to a possible heroin overdose at a South Randolph Avenue residence, where a woman was reportedly found face-down on a driveway. She had to be given three doses of naloxone before being taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, a report stated.
