Man who assaulted paramedics gets 5 years in prison
YOUNGSTOWN — A man who reports said rammed police cruisers and kicked a paramedic during a July 3 chase across the East Side and Campbell pleaded guilty today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to several charges and was sentenced to five years in prison.
Judge R. Scott Krichbaum sentenced Brandon Liggens, 36, on two counts of felonious assault, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, being a felon in possession of a firearm, assault and two counts of endangering children.
Reports said during the chase Liggens rammed a city police cruiser while he had two children in the vehicle with him. A Campbell police cruiser later rammed his vehicle, which is how the chase ended.
Liggens refused to leave his vehicle and had to be dragged out, reports said. Police also found a revolver and an assault rifle near a spot where Liggens was seen throwing something out the window, reports said.
