WARREN

A spiritual rally against violence is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo in downtown Warren.

Walter Gillespie of Girard is the organizer. He said there will be praise dancers, testimonials and praise teams. This is the fourth year for the event.

Black Caucus plans tribute to Gatewood

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown-Warren Black Caucus is hosting a tribute to former labor leader and community activist, the late Arlette Gatewood, on Friday at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road.

There will be a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. with the dinner immediately following.

Keynote speaker will be Clayola Brown, the national president of A. Philip Randolph Institute. APRI is an organization of black trade unionists.

Tickets for the event are $40 or a table for eight can be purchased for $300.

Leetonia forum

LEETONIA

Mayor Kevin Siembida will deliver the annual State of the Village address at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Leetonia Public Library, 181 Walnut St.

This is a community forum for the understanding and direction of the village and will be followed by the regular session of council.

Scrap-tire collection

LIBERTY

Liberty Township’s scrap tire collection drop-off will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24 and 25 at the administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

This collection is for township residents only. There is a maximum of eight tires per resident, and only tires off the rims will be taken. Absolutely no material from commercial businesses will be accepted.

Beaver Crime Watch

Beaver Police Department Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road. Judge Shirley J. Christian of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court will be the guest speaker. Local crime statistics will be covered.

Forum on Vivitrol

YOUNGSTOWN

The ACT Center For Recovery, a ONE Health Ohio affiliate, will have a meeting at the Youngstown Community Health Center Community Meeting Room, 726 Wick Ave., from 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 to talk about injectable naltrexone, also known as Vivitrol.

Vivitrol blocks the effects of opioid medication, including pain relief or feelings of well-being that can lead to opioid abuse, according to the drugs.com website.

The meeting is open to the public. Another meeting will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the same location. For reservations, call 1-844-652-8219.
