Howland crash victim flown to Youngstown hospital

A helicopter transported a driver to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after a car crashed on state Route 82 near East Market Street.

The driver lost control of the vehicle at about 5:15 p.m. today while traveling westbound, according the OSHP. The car went off the left side of the road into a grassy median before it re-entered the eastbound lanes of traffic and went off the south side of the road into a wooded area, according the OSHP.

The driver’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening, the OSHP said. The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

The incident remains under investigation.
