An ACTION clergy breakfast will take place from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Heavenly Place Church of God, 1350 Katherine St., with host pastor Bishop Emmitt L. Nevels. The ongoing topic is “Conversation on Racism.” Reservations are requested by today by sending an email to taulen@aol.com The event is free but a count of those attending is needed. Monsignor Robert Siffrin is president of Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing our Neighborhoods, with Pastors Jack Pettis and Jeff Stanford and the Rev. Robin Woodberry, organizers. Rose Carter is executive director and lead organizer.

Power outages

YOUNGSTOWN

Severe thunderstorms, wind gusts and heavy rains combined to cause power outages to nearly 1,500 homes and businesses in the Mahoning Valley on Saturday afternoon and early evening. According to the FirstEnergy website, as of 8:30 p.m., there were 410 outages in Columbiana County, 218 outages in Trumbull County, and 833 outages in Mahoning County, with Boardman the hardest hit. FirstEnergy estimated that most of the power would be restored by 4 a.m. today, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.
