Former Boardman trustee to serve as Trump elector
COLUMBUS — Ex-Boardman Trustee Kathy Miller along with LeeAnn Johnson, the wife of U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, are among 18 Republicans selected to be presidential electors – those who cast Ohio’s Electoral College votes if Donald Trump wins the state.
The Ohio Republican Party’s central committee met today to approve the list of presidential electors submitted by Trump’s campaign. Miller will represent the 13th Congressional District that includes parts of Mahoning, Trumbull, Summit, Portage and Stark counties.
“It is so thrilling that I was asked to do this,” said Miller, who volunteers for the campaign serving as chairwoman of Mahoning County for Trump. “It’s exciting. I’ll have to read up on my responsibilities. I know what an electorate is and I know about the Electoral College. I know he has to win first, and then I have to be in Columbus to vote.”
That’s about it.
Presidential electors of the winning candidate in their states meet Dec. 19 in their state capital to vote for president and vice president based on the popular vote.
