Home Savings donates $3,218 to Mobile Meals

Home Savings Charitable Foundation recently donated a check for $3,218 to Trumbull Mobile Meals.

The funds will be used toward the purchase of an automatic meat/vegetable slicer.

Open house for Cafaro headquarters

NILES

The Cafaro Co. will have an invitation-only open house for its new headquarters at Eastwood Mall today.

The developer moved from Youngstown to Niles in May.

Inside the headquarters are enough desks for 200-plus employees, conference rooms, collaboration areas and walkways between departments. The headquarters offers more space, more technology and more light.

Energy discount program extended

CLEVELAND

Dominion East Ohio and its partner, CLEAResult, have extended, through Sept. 30, a 50-percent-off discount promotion for eligible residential customers, reducing the cost of an energy assessment to just $25.

Customers of Dominion East Ohio will find that they can save several ways with the company’s Home Performance with the Energy Star program.

This program includes a home energy assessment to help diagnose high utility usage and other home-comfort issues, and then provides rebates of up to $1,250 for completion of recommended energy-efficiency improvements.

Figures released for wells production

COLUMBUS

During the second quarter of 2016, Ohio’s horizontal shale wells produced 4,839,792 barrels of oil and 334 billion cubic feet of natural gas, according to the figures recently released by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Natural-gas production from the second quarter of 2016 showed an increase over the second quarter of 2015, while oil production was reduced for that same period.

The ODNR quarterly report lists 1,415 horizontal shale wells, 1,362 of which reported oil and natural-gas production during the quarter.

Of the 1,362 reporting oil and natural-gas results: the average amount of oil produced was 3,553 barrels; the average amount of natural gas produced was 245,417 Mcf; and the average number of second-quarter days in production was 87.

Ford expands recall

DETROIT

Ford will spend $640 million to replace door latches on nearly 2.4 million cars, trucks and vans this year because the doors can pop open while the vehicles are moving.

On Thursday, the company announced it would add 1.5 million vehicles to the pesky and growing recall, which has become so costly Ford had to cut its estimated full-year pretax profit to $10.2 billion from at least $10.8 billion.
