Stage Left opens with ‘GLAM, the Sequel’
Stage Left Players will begin its 2016-17 season by building on a surprise hit from last year. “GLAM, the Sequel” will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday (two shows only) at Stage Left’s Trinity Playhouse, 234 Lincoln Way, Lisbon. The comedy will bring back Ireland, the fictitious ’80s hair band, in a battle between rock and a boy band. Kandy Cleland, Stage Left’s managing director, said theatergoers won’t be lost if they missed Ireland’s first appearance in April in “Glam, the Musical.” The initial show was created when Stage Left veteran actors Niki Slaven, Dan Hauter and Karen Lisito stepped in to fill a suddenly vacant spot in the season. Hauter’s loosely written, high-energy shows rely heavily on this cast to improvise and interact with the audience. In the original, Ireland gives the concert of its life to save a rock club from closing. It was such a hit that Cleland brought it back. Admission to “GLAM, The Sequel” is $10 ($8 for students and seniors) and can be purchased in advance at StageLeftPlayers.org.
