POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Sept. 1

Criminal damaging: A padlock was damaged at a Clingan Road self-storage facility.

BOARDMAN

Sept. 2

Criminal damaging: A motorist drove through and left tire tracks in a front yard in the 60 block of Indianola Road.

Theft: A woman discovered her $300 cellphone missing when she returned to her Melbourne Avenue residence after having accidentally left the phone on her car’s hood.

Theft: Haley M. Hochadel of state Route 344, Salem, and Destiny L. Groger of state Route 172, East Rochester, faced theft charges. The two 18-year-old women were accused of having stolen two $100 cellphone cases with chargers from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: A Shelby Road woman reported a neighbor had several times sprayed grass and plants in her yard near their property line.

Theft: Brookfield police handed to Boardman authorities 27-year-old Matthew D. Prahm of Maple Drive, Greenville, Pa., who was accused of stealing $124 worth of merchandise March 24 from Kohl’s.

Sept. 3

Arrest: Amanda E. Cotton, 26, was taken into custody after having been pulled over on Market Street. Cotton, of Hammaker Street, Youngstown, was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Campbell; Cotton also received a minor-misdemeanor citation charging her with having a small bag of suspected marijuana.

Aggravated menacing: Police in Liberty Township took custody of 25-year-old Maxx L. Myers of Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, who was wanted on two misdemeanor aggravating-menacing charges. A Hillman Way woman reported she and a friend had received threatening voicemail messages, including threats both would be killed.

Theft: Portage County authorities relinquished custody of Emily G. Gallagher, 33, who was wanted on a theft warrant. The Mogadore woman was accused of stealing a $399 mini iPad device from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Aggravated menacing: A Struthers woman told officers a man had made a series of threats against her daughter in the 4900 block of Market Street.

Truck theft: A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from a driveway in the 5000 block of Hopkins Road.

Theft: Linda D. Boles, 36, and Cindy S. Schweiss, 57, both of Owsley Street, Masury, were charged with stealing seven pairs of children’s pants valued at $280 from Kohl’s.

Burglary/menacing: Police responded to a fight at a Market Street motel after a man had reportedly kicked in the door to a room and threatened a woman with a gun.

Theft by deception: A township man alleged his former girlfriend had picked up his tenant’s $750 rent payment without the accuser’s permission.

Theft: Someone removed $100 worth of snack items from a lobby at a South Avenue long-term health-care center.

Criminal damaging: A woman in the 7700 block of Silver Fox Drive saw that someone had tossed eggs at her husband’s pickup truck.

Theft: An Arlene Avenue woman reports someone took her son’s $200 pair of shoes from a basement storage area.

Theft: A woman reportedly stole at least $50 worth of leggings and other merchandise from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Criminal mischief: A Lemont Drive man discovered trash had been thrown into his swimming pool.

Theft: A man at a Market Street motel told authorities another man had stolen the victim’s $100 electronic tablet, then sold it to buy drugs.

Sept. 4

Theft: A gift card, a small sum of change and a $625 cellphone were removed from a car at a residence in the 100 block of Danbury Drive.

Domestic violence: A 16-year-old Boardman boy was charged after his guardian alleged the teen had twice pushed him, the second time of which caused the accuser to trip and fall.

Theft: A man reported his cellphone was taken while he was at a Market Street gas station.

Burglary: To a garage in the 100 block of Southwoods Drive. Stolen were two full 5-gallon gas cans, a set of hedge clippers and two shovels.

Theft: A man reportedly left Inner Circle Pizza, 1816 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying his $31.49 food bill.

Domestic violence: Cordale J. McDowell, 29, of Shields Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after a Youngstown woman alleged that during an argument, McDowell had pushed, choked and spit on her. The accuser had a bruise on her elbow.

Possible theft: A Paxton Road man noticed an Ohio temporary tag was missing from or stolen off his motorcycle.

Criminal damaging: A sport utility vehicle in the 40 block of Boardman Boulevard was found with key marks and scratches on its driver’s side.

Identity theft: A Forest Lake Drive woman found out someone without authorization had used her credit card to buy $296 worth of merchandise from a Southern Park Mall intimate-apparel business.

Theft by deception: A Mathews Road man reported two landlords refused to sign a contract for a lease of his residence after he had paid $4,000 toward the lease.

Possible theft: A Niles man said his iPhone was lost or stolen while he was at a Doral Drive big-box store.

Theft: The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department transferred custody of 23-year-old Wesley A. Weber to township police. Weber, of Topaz Trail, Cortland, was accused of stealing $265 worth of men’s apparel and clothing April 12 from Kohl’s.

Sept. 5

Arrest: After pulling over an erratic driver near Glenwood Avenue, police charged Leslie A. Albanese of Green Bay Drive, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired. The 34-year-old Albanese refused to submit to a breathalyzer test, a report showed.

Theft: A man noticed three tarpaulins missing from his tractor-trailer in the 8000 block of Southern Boulevard.

Assault: A Boardman man who’s part of an Ohio Lottery group alleged a group member had pushed him to the floor at a Boardman-Poland Road fast-food restaurant, causing the victim to hit his head under a table, regarding a debt owed.

Theft: An iPod and a key fob were removed from a car in the 400 block of Orlo Lane.

Robbery: A Poland man reported that while in a garage in the 4000 block of Sunset Drive, a man wearing a bandana around his face and with a lead pipe ordered the victim to empty his pockets before taking his $180 cellphone.

Theft: A Canfield man alleged a tenant had stolen a set of keys to the accuser’s apartment building in the 4500 block of Grover Drive.

Stolen property: After conducting a vehicle check in the 4000 block of Market Street, a 17-year-old Youngstown boy faced a fourth-degree felony count of receiving stolen property after police learned that the car had been reported stolen from the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Theft: An Edinboro, Pa., woman told officers that while in the 1300 block of Doral Drive, a man in his 30s snatched her purse as she was loading groceries into her car.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Southern and Washington boulevards led to a charge of operating a vehicle impaired against Melanie A. Ditchey, 53, of Hitchcock Road, Boardman. Ditchey had a 0.241 blood-alcohol content, slightly more than three times Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report stated.

Theft: A Spring Garden Drive man noticed a $100 rocking chair had been stolen from his front porch.

Theft: A boy in his mid-teens reportedly took a $10 phone charger from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.
