Mahoning County Grand Jury indicts 22


YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County Grand Jury Thursday indicted 22 people including Fred Hardy III, 27, Berkley Avenue, on vandalism, assault, criminal damaging or endangering and intimidation of a victim or witness.

On Jul. 28, Reports said a woman told police Hardy was fighting with her brother, and the brother was trying to stop Hardy from beating the woman. She said Hardy had asked her to drop some charges against Hardy’s brother in a court case and when the woman refused she said Hardy began beating her.

The grand jury also indicted Jose Zayas, 26, Rosewood Lane, on carrying concealed weapons and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On Aug. 7, officers were called to a home in the 1400 block of Rosewood Avenue on a tip that Zayas was there and they found him in the backyard, reports said. The gun was found in his waistband when he was searched, police said.

The grand jury also indicted Taylor Moore, 23, Bears Den Road, on possession of heroin and possessing drug abuse instruments.

Reports from Mercy Health police said that Moore was found on Aug. 4 in a restroom and was very ill. When officers arrived, there was a nurse treating Moore in the restroom.

Police found a syringe, an empty bag that had residue of suspected heroin inside and two other bags with doses of suspected heroin. Also, it appeared she used her glasses to mix the heroin before she put it in the needle to inject it, reports said.
