“Harry’s Friendly Service,SDRq an original play by Valley native Rob Zellers, will have auditions Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Youngstown Playhouse. Pat Foltz is the director. The show requires five males (age ranging from late 20s to 60s) and two females (approximately age 20 and 60). Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. Scripts are available at the Playhouse for a 24-hour checkout; call ahead to reserve. “Harry’s Friendly Service” will be performed March 3-12, 2017. Call 330-788-8739.
“Pinocchio,SDRq by the Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theater, will have auditions Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Playhouse. The nonmusical show, based on Carlo Collodi’s classic story, requires a wide age range of actors and actresses (age 7 to adult). David El’Hatton will direct the production, which will run Nov. 4, 5 and 6, with school matinee performances Nov. 3 and 4. Call 330-788-8739.
“Nativity: The Hope,SDRq auditions will take place Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children at Youngstown Playhouse. Karen Clark Green will direct this Christmastime production. Auditionees are asked to prepare a brief song and/or monologue, and a demonstration of any specialty dance abilities are welcome (movement will be required at the audition). Auditions for adults will be as follows: singers, Sept. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m.; “triple threats” (singer/actor/dancer), Sept. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m.; and dancers, Sept. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. Singers are asked to bring a song, and dancers are asked to bring music for a piece in their style (ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, breaking, popping, animators, jazz, lyrical). All auditionees may be asked to read, sing and/or dance. The production team also is seeking a tall male bodybuilder. Approximately 45 roles are available. “WSPA-ZM presents ‘Star Child,’” an original play by Penn State Shenango instructor Jeanne Zingale, auditions will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Penn State Shenango Auditorium, located in downtown Sharon across from the post office. The production is a radio play within a play about a small station that needs to be creative when a troupe of actors fails to show up for the big holiday fundraiser. The show requires three to four men and three to four women, plus six to eight children age 6 to 11 (casting flexible). Those auditioning should be prepared to read from a script. Some actors also will create sound effects for the radio show part of the play. The children should be able to group sing.
