Trains making students late, Ryan tells CSX
LORDSTOWN
U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, has asked the CSX Corp. to look into its trains blocking traffic, including Lordstown school buses, at the crossing at Lyntz-Townline and Salts Springs roads in the morning, sometimes causing students to be late to school.
In his letter to CSX, Ryan said his office has received a copy of what appears to be an internal CSX memo to train engineers saying that the crossing is not to be blocked between 5:30 and 7:30 a.m. He asked CSX to look into the situation.
Ryan said having to wait 30-45 minutes at the crossing poses a difficult situation for the local school district, the students and their families.
