Third suspect in recent Youngstown homicide caught in Pittsburgh

YOUNGSTOWN — The third suspect in the Tuesday murder of a Belden Avenue man was arrested today in Pittsburgh.

Lt. Doug Bobovnyik of the detective bureau said 19-year-old Derrick Reber was arrested at a hotel near the Pittsburgh Airport. He said Reber was arrested without incident. He will be held in Pennsylvania until an extradition hearing can be scheduled.

Derrick Reber is a suspect in the death of Daniel Sanford, 28, who was found shot to death about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in a Belden Avenue home. Also charged are Reber’s brother, Vincent Reber, 21, and Lorenzo Hilton, 28. They are both being treated for gunshot wounds they received in a shootout with Sanford and are under police watch at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The news came as relief for Reber’s father, Rober Reber, who had been pleading for his son to turn himself in. When told the news, he was in tears, saying, “Thank, God,” repeatedly.
