WARREN

The W.D. Packard Concert Band will open its season Sunday with “A Concert in Remembrance of 9/11,” which will mark the 15th anniversary of the tragic terrorist events of that day. The free concert will begin at 3 p.m. at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave.

Conductor Dr. Stephen L. Gage will lead a program that memorializes the men and women who lost their lives in the attack on the twin towers at the World Trade Center and the first responders who risked their own lives immediately after the attack and in the aftermath.

The concert will begin with “Fanfare: American Flourish,” followed by “Of Heroes and Demons,” “Ever Braver, Ever Stronger,” “America, Remember” and “As All The Heavens Were A Bell,” dedicated to the firefighters of Manhattan.

The Franz Schubert “Ave Maria” will serve as a background for the Billy Graham speech to the nation narrated by Bradley J. Holko. Vocalist Jim Masters will perform his original composition “I Love This Land That Is America” and Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless The U.S.A.”

A community mosaic mural titled “9/11 … Never Forget” will be on display during the concert. The artwork is a collaborative effort of 32 artists from Community Artworks, which is directed by Susan Jacobs.
