Dispute over dog leads to charges

WARREN

Kelli M. Stahl, 44, of Columbia Place Southeast, was charged Tuesday night with petty theft after she was accused of stealing a dog, and Jeffery E. Allen, 20, of Scott Street Northeast was charged with misdemeanor aggravated menacing after he was accused of pointing a gun at the owner of the dog. Allen was taken to the county jail.

A man, 54, told police his pit bull dog got loose, and his daughters told him they saw a female walking it. They approached the woman near Youngstown Road and Columbia, but the woman became rude, so they called their father.

The man went to the home on Columbia, and Allen told him to leave, then went in the house and got a gun and pointed it at him, the victim said.

When police interviewed Stahl, she said she found the dog but told police she would not give it back, so she was issued a summons for theft. Stahl’s husband returned the dog to its owner.

When police interviewed Allen, he admitted to pointing the gun in the direction of the dog’s owner.
