Campbell chief on leave after complaint prompts investigation

CAMPBELL

Mayor Nick Phillips has placed Campbell Police Chief Drew Rauzan on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation into alleged misconduct.

The mayor declined to comment on the nature of the allegations.

Jill Del Greco, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, said the Ohio BCI received a request Tuesday from Campbell Law Director Brian Macala to investigate alleged criminal misconduct by a member of the Campbell Police Department.

Macala confirmed that the BCI investigation concerns Rauzan. He said he requested the investigation Tuesday after a citizen made a complaint to the mayor Friday.

“Whether the alleged conduct is criminal in nature will be up to the investigation to determine,” Macala said.
