YSU women’s soccer rallies against Longwood

YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown State’s Ernestina Abambila scored two goals and an assist to led the Penguins to a 3-1 comeback victory against Longwood Sunday afternoon.
The sophomore from Ghana now leads the team in scoring with four goals and four assists and has scored at least a goal in three of her last four games.
Longwood’s Christina Corbin struck first with a goal off a rebound in the 17th minute. Abambila equalized for her team a minute later with a shot into the upper left corner of the net. The stalemate lasted until the 76th minute, when Sophie McFarland got to a loose ball at Longwood’s 18. She then found Abambila, who scored the go-ahead goal.
Madison Hughes scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Abambila in the 85th minute to put the game away.
YSU goalie Katie Montgomery made six saves for her second win of the season.
With the victory, YSU is now 2-2-1 on the season, winning it’s first home game and first in three games.
The Penguins travel to St. Bonaventure on Friday.
