Man killed in crash
YOUNGSTOWN
Officers are investigating a fatal one-car crash on the city’s East Side on Sunday.
According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, a car struck a utility pole near Bennington Avenue at McGuffey Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Youngstown Police Department officials said at least one person inside the car, who hasn’t been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police haven’t determined the cause of the accident, and it is under investigation.
Assistant schools chief for Youngstown resigns
YOUNGSTOWN
Milton Walters, the city school district’s assistant superintendent/human resources is resigning from his position, effective Oct. 31.
Walters, who came to the district from Maryland, has been on the job since September 2015. Krish Mohip, district chief executive officer, said Walters cited personal reasons when submitting his resignation Friday.
Walters will continue to work in the district through October.
He had applied for both the interim superintendent job last summer and for the CEO job.
Little Bites recalled
SEWICKLEY, PA.
Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. is recalling select Entenmann’s Little Bites products.
The company announced the recall after receiving consumer reports of plastic in the product. One injury was reported.
Recalled are 5-packs of Entenmann’s Little Bites Fudge Brownies and 10-packs of Chocolate Chip Muffins and 20-packs of Variety Pack.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled product should dispose of it, or they can return the product to its place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 800-984-0989, 24 hours a day.
Free frappes at DQ
Participating Dairy Queen locations in Cornersburg, Austintown and Columbiana are giving away free Ultimate Oreo Frappes on Tuesday.
The giveaway is to celebrate the first weekend in September, marking the unofficial end of summer. School is back in session and everyone is back to work the day after Labor Day.
Dairy Queens at 3555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown; 146 N. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown; and 241 E. Park Ave., Columbiana will be giving away one free small Ultimate Oreo Frappe per customer from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Psychic fair planned at Boardman hotel

The Great Conjunction Spiritual Center will host a psychic fair this month to raise funds for its center in Youngstown.
The Great Conjunction Expo & Psychic Fair is planned from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 24 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Boardman Holiday Inn on South Avenue.
The entry fee of $5 will help the center to continue its spiritual outreach programs that include a monthly lecture series, workshops, classes and, occasionally, retreats.
Psychic John Michael Thornton is a co-founder, and he will be at the expo.

Road will be closed for Apple Festival Parade
HARTFORD
Five Points Hartford Road, between state Route 7 and Bushnell Campbell Road, will be closed from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 17 for the Hartford Apple Festival Parade.
The Hartford Township Police Department, along with neighboring law-enforcement agencies will coordinate traffic control.
