Women in Sports Industry program

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Business Incubator’s Women In Entrepreneurship program will present “Breaking Boundaries, Women in the Sports Industry” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Covelli Centre, 229 E. Front St.

The event will feature speaker Manon Rh aume, known as “The First Woman of Hockey,” who was the first and only female to play in a NHL game with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1992.

Denise DeBartolo York, co-chairwoman of the San Francisco 49ers, will also speak at the event.

The event, sponsored by PNC Bank and Home Savings & Loan Co., will cost $50 for one single event ticket and $75 for a VIP ticket.

America Makes will have a live webinar for any company or individual interested in learning more about America Makes and its membership from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 6.

During the webinar, America Makes will give an overview of the program, discuss the value of America Makes membership and describe the levels of membership.

At the end of the webinars there is a 45-minute segment dedicated to a question-and-answer session.

Rust Belt Made, a curated, pop-up event, will have a Makers Market at Creekside Plaza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17.

Creekside Plaza is located at 1419 Boardman-Canfield Road.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will have a Business Connection Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 21 at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave.

The luncheon will provide attendees with important information on how a business can grow its email list and expand its reach.

Karen Leonard, chief marketing officer of Innovative Global Vision, will be the speaker.

The cost of the luncheon is $20 for chamber members and $25 for potential chamber members and guests. Safety program

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is seeking entries for the 2017 Safety Innovations Program. This annual program awards cash prizes from $1,000 to $6,000 to employers that develop innovative solutions to reduce the risk of workplace injuries and illnesses to their employees.

Ohio public and private employers may apply online at bwc.ohio.gov by Sept. 30.

The top five finalists will attend BWC’s Safety Congress & Expo in Columbus from March 8 to 10 to present their innovation to a three-judge panel and the public.
