The Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology has named Brian Kolenich, executive director of Park Vista of Youngstown, to the 2016 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners.

The award is the nation’s highest honor for organizational innovation and performance excellence.

Appointed by the NIST director, examiners are responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications submitted for the award, as well as other assessment-related tasks. The examiner board is composed of more than 350 leading experts competitively selected from industry, professional, trade, education, health care and nonprofit organizations from across the U.S.

ROOFING

Simon Roofing, headquartered in Youngstown and one of the largest national manufacturers/installers of commercial roofing systems, was ranked No. 11 on Roofing Contractor magazine’s annual list of largest roofers in the U.S.

The list is based on self-reported revenue, and includes both commercial and residential roofing companies. In the 2015 rankings, Simon Roofing was No. 12.

All of Simon Roofing’s revenue is attributable to commercial roofing; largely from roof restorations and repairs out of its 64 service centers throughout the U.S.

Simon Roofing is a family- owned business that was founded in 1900 in Youngstown. Today, it’s run by third- and fourth-generation family members.
