Lawrence County UW Day of Caring is Thursday

NEW CASTLE, PA.

United Way of Lawrence County and area nonprofit agencies are preparing for the annual Day of Caring at 8 a.m. Thursday at Cascade Park Pavilion, 1928 E. Washington St., with breakfast catered by Shop ā€˜n’ Save.

This event will kick off the 2016 United Way annual fundraising campaign and also is in recognition of Patriot Day. This is the 15th year of the tragic event that took place Sept. 11, 2001.

The speaker this year will be David Gettings, Lawrence County Controller and founder of Gettings Education Center and Albert Gettings Memorial Fund.

The United Way Community Services Committee coordinates the events for the Day of Caring.

Sponsors for Day of Caring include PSSU/SEIU, Greenville Savings, Beaver/Lawrence Central Labor Council, AFSCME Council No. 85, Next Level Photography and DiCaprio Cleaning.

Music will be provided by Doug McIltrot.

The United Way of Lawrence County has more than125 volunteers at 10 various nonprofit sites and parks throughout the county.

Volunteers will be painting, cleaning, landscaping and organizing projects for agencies in the community.
