A Time For Recovery Outreach will host a discussion on domestic violence for females age 14 and older from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s Main Branch meeting room, 305 Wick Ave. The guest speaker will be Audrey Walker from Sojourner House. Library open house
BOARDMAN
An open house will take place from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the newly renovated Boardman Public Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. It will feature two children’s programs: Lego My Library, where children, age 6 and up, can create Lego designs at 10 a.m.; and Porgie the Clown, featuring humor, a magic show and balloons at 2:30 p.m. The renovation added a new business and training meeting space, outdoor terraces and new hands-on learning features in the children’s section.
Apply for shelter volunteer training
NEW CASTLE, PA.
The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County is accepting volunteer applications of those would like to make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling with domestic violence and/or sexual assault situations. The shelter offers training for volunteers in the fall and takes place for 10 consecutive weeks. The 2016 training schedule will be released soon.
Whether volunteers are interested in direct interaction with clients, or volunteering to maintain the facility or with mailings and other duties in the administration department, applications are encouraged. Legal aid seeking volunteers for court

Community Legal Aid, a nonprofit law firm serving the civil legal needs of the low-income community, is seeking volunteers for the Volunteer Advocacy Legal Unit – VALU – Program in Mahoning County. Volunteers assist victims of domestic violence through the court process of obtaining a civil-protection order. Training will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27. Green Party public meeting scheduled

The Mahoning Valley Greens, a political club affiliated with the Green Party of Mahoning County, is having a public meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pig Iron Press Building, 26 N. Phelps St., to discuss the Green Party candidacies of Jill Stein of Massachusetts for U.S. president and Joe DeMare of Bowling Green for U.S. Senate. The meeting will be informational and organizational. The objective is to establish a Jill Stein/Joe DeMare presence in the Mahoning Valley for the November election. Oak Hill Cemetery tour next Sunday

Hall and Jones Cemetery Tours will present a tour at historic Oak Hill Cemetery, 344 Oak Hill Ave., at 2 p.m. next Sunday. The theme will be the industrial giants of the city who have made a difference and who are buried in the South Side cemetery.
