Dish Network, Tribune Media reach agreement
LOS ANGELES
With the start of the NFL football season just days away, satellite TV giant Dish Network and television station owner Tribune Media have reached an agreement to end a nearly three-month feud that left millions of viewers without a favorite local TV station.
The two companies on Saturday afternoon announced a resolution in the bitter dispute over fees, and that signals of Tribune stations would be restored to Dish systems.
Tribune is one of the largest TV station groups in the U.S., and viewers in certain cities, such as Indianapolis, had been growing anxious about the prospect of starting a new NFL season without access to a key TV station. In Indianapolis, Tribune owns the CBS and Fox affiliates, which could have left Colts fans in the lurch.
Turkish tanks cross into Syria in ‘new phase’ against IS
ISTANBUL
Turkish tanks crossed into Syria to the west of a frontier town seized from the Islamic State group last week, in a “new phase” of an operation aimed at sealing off the last stretch of border controlled by the extremists.
By nightfall, Syrian rebels backed by the Turkish forces seized seven villages from IS, according to local journalist Ahmad al-Khatib.
The private Dogan news agency reported at least 20 tanks and five armored personnel carriers crossed at the Turkish border town of Elbeyli, across from the Syrian rebel-held town of al-Rai. The new incursion is unfolding about 34 miles west of Jarablus, where Turkish forces first crossed into Syria 10 days ago.

Officer in critical condition after exchange of gunfire
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.
One police officer remains in critical condition and one suspect is dead in an exchange of gunfire after a car stop outside an Atlantic City casino early Saturday.
The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. after officers stopped a car near a parking garage of Caesars casino.
At least one of the men in the car opened fire, Atlantic City police Chief Henry White said. Investigators are looking for five people described as suspects or persons of interest, according to acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton. Authorities released video later Saturday afternoon showing six men they said were “persons of interest” in the case.
The shooting occurred when the officers “approached a group of individuals engaged in criminal activity,” prosecutors said in a statement, though they did not disclose further details about what the men were doing. The wounded officer was shot and injured as he exited his vehicle. The second officer returned fire and struck at least one of the suspects.
