Backpack Program donates food and books to children
SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Kathy Wujcik, coordinator of Newton Falls Community Backpack Program, is shown in the storage/packing room at Newton Falls Middle School preparing for this year’s food program. The program provided 1,080 bags of food and 1,080 new and used books to local children in 2015-16. Donors include Newton Falls Kiwanis Club, Newton Falls Public Library, Friends of the Library, Church Mouse, First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School program, Ladies Guild of Sts. Mary and Joseph Church, First Christian Church, Newton Falls United Methodist Church and Associated School Employees Credit Union. Recipients are chosen by the elementary and middle schools and distribution is made from the school’s office. The project is used to supplement a child’s meals and snacks. A collection box can be found at ASECU, Newton Falls Branch, 25 S. Canal St., with grocery lists of items needed. Monetary donations also can be made at ASECU with your name or the group’s name in the memo line.
