ASSOCIATIONS
American Association of University Women, Youngstown Branch, will meet at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 at Shepherd of the Valley, 301 Western Reserve Road, Poland. After the continental breakfast and business meeting, Dom Grace from Council for Better Nutrition, will speak. Hostesses are Luanna Jacobs and Regina Jenkins. The fundraiser is an old book sale. American Business Women’s Association, Tri Gold Prime Time Chapter, will meet Sept. 14 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. A social will be at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner at 6. The meal comprises creamed chicken on biscuits, beef tips on noodles, mashed potatoes, vegetable blend, tossed salad and ice cream for $18. Cassie Nespor, of Melnick Medical Museum at YSU, will be the speaker. Local ABWA chapters will celebrate ABW day Sept. 18 at A La Cart. The 1:30 buffet will cost $20. ALLIANCES
Ohio Cultural Alliance will have its next joint meeting with Mahoning Valley Association of Churches at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road (Route 62). The Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II will address the Local Black Baptist Church. Cultural enrichment will be organ music provided by Dr. Ronald Gould, YSU professor emeritus. The community project will be toiletry items for the Salvation Army. Memberships, which run from March to December, are $25 per person. Mahoning County Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will conduct its regular monthly business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army building, 1561 Glenwood Ave. Fall and winter service projects will be discussed and light refreshments will be served.

Warren Women’s Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, invites all women to attend its Sept. 12 luncheon at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road N.E., Warren. Paula Abbott from Terrell, Texas, will tell her story, “Freedom Behind Closed Doors.” She is the author of two books that have been approved by Stonecroft Ministries. The Clothes Mentor–Howland, a new concept in resale of women’s clothing, will be featured with Heather Hannan, owner and manager. Dona Hewitt will be the vocalist. Stonecroft Ministries is a non-denominational organization that reaches out to all women across the country and around the world. Luncheons are held the second Monday of each month.

National Council of Negro Women Inc., Youngstown, will meet Sept. 10 at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road. The executive board meets at noon with the general meeting at 1 p.m. followed by the installation of officers for the 2016-2017 year.
