When school began on Aug. 29, students in the Austintown School District noticed some new faces welcoming them back to school.

Austintown Intermediate School has three new staff members this year. Alex Miller is teaching fifth grade, while Daryl Kurtz and Amy Fierst are intervention specialists.

Austintown Middle School will welcome one new teacher, Douglas Eisenbraun, who will be teaching STEM.

Austintown Fitch High School will have eight new teachers in the building this year. Victoria Wise will teach language arts, Darla Little and Daniel Robinette will join the science department, Brian Umsted will teach STEM social studies, Donald Fuller will teach social studies and Gianna Marinucci and Marissa Mraz will join the math department.

Robert Wynat, also a new to the Fitch staff, will be a Project Lead the Way teacher. Project Lead The Way is a nonprofit organization that provides transformative learning experiences for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S.

Through pathways in computer science, engineering and biomedical science, students learn problem-solving strategies, critical and creative thinking, and how to communicate and collaborate. They are shaping the innovators, creators and designers of today and tomorrow.

Nikke McDorman-Gossett will be a new District Nurse this year and Sarah Eliser will teach music at multiple buildings in the district.
