Open house, car cruise-in set

Mahoning Valley Historical Society is celebrating its anniversary with a free open house from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St. Games and activities, food and music will be featured. Free parking is available. For information contact the society at 330-743-2589 or visit www.mahoninghistory.org.
The event will feature a classic car cruise-in with no registration fees or awards. Vintage safety vehicles will be on display. This also will be the last day to view the exhibit “Wheels of Steel: The Mahoning Valley’s Car Culture” at the History Center.
Joe Pavlansky, author of the new book “Campbell” will be on hand to sign books in the gift shop. Local agencies including the Melnick Medical Museum, McKinley Library, Harriet Taylor Upton House and historical societies from Girard, Struthers and Lisbon will host displays in the ballroom.
