Man faces charges after gun fired on the South Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A man was taken into custody at about 4 p.m. Wednesday after police responded to a report of a shot fired in the 1800 block of Pointview Avenue.

Victor Sanchez, 20, was taken into custody on charges of discharging a firearm in city limits and carrying a concealed weapon.

Reports said Sanchez was one of several people in a car in the driveway and he walked away from police, who heard something drop. He later told police he threw a 9mm handgun on the ground and police found the gun and he admitted firing a shot, reports said.

Reports said Sanchez told police he got the gun from "some dude in Warren" and he traded his dirt bike for it.
