CANFIELD FAIR | Scavenger hunt a fun challenge for Vindy reporter
CANFIELD — A scavenger hunt around the fairgrounds led one Vindicator reporter to find more than just the items on her list.
Jordyn Grzelewski, determined to find at least a few of the 75-plus items listed on the unofficial "Canfield Fair Scavenger Hunt" Faceook page, spent an hour and a half walking the fairgrounds today.
She found a clock "sitting in plain sight." She looked high and low, per the clue, to find a 4-H emblem. In all, she walked nearly 3 miles while figuring out the clues.
One item can be found at a booth owned by Judy Black, which today was manned by her 19-year-old granddaughter, Jenna Chance.
"It's tiring, but it's fun. I love it. I've been out here my entire life," Jenna said of the vendor experience.
She hand-painted the lemon-shake sign that's included in the scavenger hunt.
The fair's "family affair" theme held true for another scavenger hunt item – cut-out gingerbread men posted above a concession stand.
Asked about the history of the cut-outs, a worker explained the owner had five made to represent his five children.
Participants in the game are supposed to post pictures in the comments section of the Facebook posts, but are asked not to divulge any locations.
